Neutral Stamping

IMG_7829

Greetings everyone! Today i have what i consider to be a more neutral manicure.

Products:

Morgan Taylor- go ahead and grow base coat

Essie- In stitches

Morgan Taylor- Vixen in a mask

Moyou London- xl pro collection 02 stamping plate

Seche Vite- Top coat

I used two coats of Essie- in stitches but you could easily get away with one, Im wondering if i could use this as a possible stamping polish. ill do some testing later.

the polish i used for stamping was morgan taylors vixen in a mask. I honestly did this on a whim thinking just maybe it could be a stamping polish and it worked. Vixen in a mask can be used as a one coat polish making it perfect for stamping.

Below is the exact image i used and i honestly had never thought about using it but it stamps perfectly. The Moyou plates i have all are etched deeply and perfectly.

Now that i think about this mani and really look at it i cant help but feel like it looks a lot like the packaging for Bath and Body works Velvet sugar which is currently being discontinued at the end of the semi annual sale. I guess i spent so much time in there that my mani was inspired by it.

See Velvet sugar here

Life preserver (Picture Tutorial) and how to make your polish opaque for stamping!

So today’s manicure we have this cute life preserver image

what i used:

  • Beauty secrets base coat from sallys
  • Seche vite
  • Winstonia xl squishy stamper
  • China Glaze Turned up Turquoise (neon)
  • China Glaze pink voltage (neon)
  • wet n wild French White Cream
  • Essie Licorice
  • Cheeky  plate CH36

When it comes to  neon polishes they’re not known for being very opaque. I wanted to stamp with them but if i were to stamp with the colors alone they would not show up.  in order for me to get the neons to show up i need to make them more opaque by adding a white. the colors aren’t as vibrant as they would be had i used them alone but they now show up on black with this technique. I didn’t come up with this technique at all I’ve seen it around so i don’t know who did.

now onto the tutorial!

start off with your base coat and then one or two coats of Essie licorice and wait for it to dry

next get your stamping plate ready in our case its this cheeky one

DSCN0158

apply Pink Voltage to the top left quadrant like so

DSCN0161

next apply Turned up Turquoise right under

DSCN0162

next to those two colors apply a stripe of the white. the color will change depending on how much white you add.

DSCN0164

next we are going to scrape to the right really fast in an effort to blend the colors together.

it should now look like this

DSCN0166

then you continue on as your normally would for stamping. i used my Winstonia xl squishy stamper to pick up the image

DSCN0171

just roll it on to your nail, next we just clean up the nail using a brush or q tip, and add a nice coat of nail polish 😀

I hope you found this useful happy stamping everyone!

Nail confession time: You guys ever have that one nail polish you bought on sale, when you get home you think to yourself when will i ever wear that color?

This is what i did with Essie’s Demure Vixen. I bought it maybe two years ago on sale without seeing any swatches or anything. Don’t get me wrong the color is gorgeous and is this taupe color duo chrome with a purple sheen. I just never knew how i would even use the color because on its own i thought it would look hideous with my skin color.

So for today’s manicure i used Essie’s Demure Vixen as my base color. The stamping images are from the Cheeky Jumbo plate 1 called Viva Mexico! The black polish is my regular Wet n Wild Black Creme.
